What is Naturopathic Nutrition?
Naturopathic Nutrition stresses the use of food as medicine. It focuses on dietary measures and lifestyle guidelines as an effective answer to many health complaints and common conditions.
I follow the six principles of naturopathic medicine.
First, do no harm
This is the cornerstone of all medical practices both conventional and complementary.
The power of nature
Naturopathic nutrition recognizes the body’s inherent ability to heal itself. Your nutrition and lifestyle plan will support your body so that it can engage its own innate healing ability.
Identify the root cause
Naturopathic nutrition seeks understand and remove the underlying causes of illness or dis-ease, rather than eliminate and suppress symptoms.
See the whole person
You are an individual, not a set of symptoms.
I will work with you (warts and all!), looking at your physical, mental and emotional health as well as genetic, environmental and social factors which may be contributing to your lack of vitality.
Doctor as teacher
My aim is for you to grow and understand your own health; to know how food and drink can alleviate (or aggravate) your symptoms. I want to empower you, so you become master of your own wellbeing.
Prevention
Naturopathic nutrition emphasises disease prevention. I will consider risk factors and hereditary susceptibility to disease and, if appropriate, make nutrition and lifestyle recommendations aimed at preventing illness.
